Let us understand first what does diabetes means?
Diabetes describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin or both. Insulin is a hormone made by the pancreas, that helps the glucose from food get into your cells to be used for energy.
Diabetologist are licensed doctors who have specialization in the field of diabetes, they usually have a background in endocrinology. They are physicians who spend the major portion of their research or practice time on diabetes care. They may see, diagnose or treat patients with diabetes or at risk for developing diabetes, or conduct research.
